Honeybees are some of the most important insects on Earth. These tiny creatures play a huge role in our world by helping plants grow. When a bee visits a flower to collect nectar, pollen sticks to its fuzzy body. As the bee flies to the next flower, some of that pollen falls off, helping the plant make seeds.

A honeybee colony is like a small city. The queen bee is the most important bee in the hive. She lays all the eggs. Worker bees are females who do many jobs. They gather food, build the honeycomb, and protect the hive. Drone bees are males whose main job is to help create new queens.

Bees communicate in fascinating ways. When a worker bee finds a good source of flowers, it returns to the hive and does a special dance. This "waggle dance" tells other bees exactly where to find the flowers. The direction and speed of the dance give precise directions.

Sadly, honeybee populations have been declining. Scientists are working hard to understand why and how to help these essential insects thrive.
